Are Pumpkin Seeds Low Histamine?

Yes, pumpkin seeds are low histamine. However, they do contain biogenic amines other than histamine, and much like in pumpkins themselves, those amines can sometimes limit the breakdown of histamine and cause similar symptoms. If you’ve ever had a reaction to another food high in biogenic amines, you should avoid pumpkin seeds. Yet unlike the gourd they come from, pumpkin seeds are not generally known to cause actual histamine release except for in cases of “true” allergies. They’re also a great source of calcium, zinc, and magnesium, as well as of protein and fiber. Try buying raw hulled pumpkin seeds and roasting & salting them at home
