Yes, technically sugar is low histamine. However sugars of all types are inflammatory in their impact upon the body, and it’s important to avoid consuming large amounts of sugar, regardless of your diet. The liver can technically process up to 60g of sugar per hour, but many people with histamine issues have have a sluggish liver, meaning that they won’t be able to respond to spikes in blood sugar as effectively. Avoid consuming more than 10g of sugar within any half-hour eating period, if following a low histamine diet.
