Is Tea Low Histamine?

Tea may be low histamine depending on whether the brew includes tea leaves or only herbs, and whether it’s sweetened with honey or another sugar. Herbal teas are mostly low histamine, but anything made with tea leaves contains caffeine, which can prevent histamine from being cleared. This means that teas like hibiscus and peppermint are low histamine, while black and green teas are on the higher end of the spectrum. Some people can still tolerate a variety of high histamine teas when their histamine bucket is low however, so it’s worth trying to reintroduce moderate amounts of tea, as it’s otherwise very good for you.
