Yes, macadamia nuts are low histamine. The large, high-fat nuts are a great source of magnesium and vitamin B1 (thiamin), and their rich texture has made them a popular snack and a great base for nut butter or nut milk. While many people associate them with Hawaii, these expensive nuts are actually native to modern-day Australia, from which they were brought to the US in the late 19th century. Most people with histamine issues tolerate macadamias quite well, as their high fat content is not very hospitable for developing histamine. Macadamia nuts can, however, go rancid quite quickly, so it’s very important to store them in the fridge as soon as you buy them, and eat any prepared macadamia products within a week or two.
